Cambridge Sax in St. Botolph's (1998)
In what was to be their final concert, Cambridge Sax performed a variety of pieces for saxophone octet and choir in St. Botolph's Church, Cambridge. The concert concluded with a performance of Glazunov's Saxophone Concerto featuring John Hankinson on alto, and conducted by Richard Quesnel. Jean-Marie Londeix's arrangement of the concerto for saxophone choir and saxophone solo is extremely challenging, requiring careful ensemble playing to avoid overwhelming the soloist.
