Lullaby

William Byrd, arr. Ben Tordoff

Composed:
1588
Arranged:
2006
Grouping:
SATBb

Byrd was probably the greatest English composer of his time. Despite being a devout Catholic (for which he was persecuted) he was the organist at Lincoln Cathedral and served as a member of the Chapel Royal composing many sacred works for the Church of England. Like many other renaissance composers he also composed madrigals. This 'Lullaby' is a 5-part madrigal arranged for soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass.
